Charlize Theron
While not a current incident, this past week actress Charlize Theron spoke in an interview about her own mother’s use of a gun to protect both of them from Theron’s father when he came after them in a drunken rampage when she was 15 years old. She describes how he shot through her bedroom door while they tried to hold it closed, and how her mother fatally shot her father with a shotgun when he went to get more weapons from a safe—and how not hearing about other stories like this made her feel alone, which is why she’s willing to talk about her experience. The shooting was ruled self-defense and her mother never faced any charges.
Dylan Sprouse
Los Angeles, CA: On April 17th, actor Dylan Sprouse tackled an intruder on his property and detained him at gunpoint while his wife called police to report a burglary in progress. Police were alerted to the fact that he had a firearm when they arrived, took control of the suspect and arrested him. Authorities did not identify the suspect or provide further information on charges.

Florence, CO: There’s little in the way of details, but a 43-year-old woman claimed she shot 40-year-old Zechariah Boh in self-defense. She called 911 after shooting Boh, and police found him dead from a gunshot wound at the scene. Authorities say she is cooperating, and no charges have been filed so far. (Fox 21)
