Good Guy with a Gun #112: Houma, LA
Original incident: February 20, 2024. If a gunshot to the head doesn't teach you to stop playing hide-and-seek with a K9, probably nothing else will, either.

The newscasts for this story are funny to watch with the closed captions on: The main perpetrator is Dex Hebert, pronounced “AY-bear.” It cracks me up when I hear the man on-screen clearly say, and the closed captions reinforce, that the dog found a bear hiding under a mattress.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Here’s the scene: The 300 block of Roberta Grove Boulevard in Houma, Louisiana.
At around five in the morning, a Houma homeowner heard noise coming from the first floor of his home. He armed himself and came downstairs to discover 34-year-old Dex Hebert burglarizing his house. Hebert confronted the homeowner, who shot him in the forehead.
