23-year-old Kyrin Gardner took the last ride of his life in an Uber driver’s1 Chevy Tahoe.
Prelude
Gardner wasn’t a good guy. This isn’t even the first time he did something bad enough to make the news. In June of 2018, he was arrested after pointing his gun at a group of nine-year-old girls at a camp playground. He was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and possession of about a gram of marijuana.

One of the ironies of this encounter is that the policeman who arrested him, Officer Tyler Bryson, was lauded for de-escalation, which gave Gardner a second chance.
A neighbor said, “I think it's wonderful that we didn't have to use lethal violence, as a lot of police officers tend to shoot — and I understand their lives are at stake.” Officer Bryson himself said, “One bad decision shouldn’t determine a life.”
I appreciate those sentiments.
But it’s pretty clear that when you keep making bad decisions, eventually they do determine your life.
