Are convenience store clerks on the list of most dangerous jobs?
Maybe they should be.
Around noon on the Road of Remembrance in Jackson, Mississippi, a man stormed into a convenience store and “began chasing the store clerk with a knife.”
The clerk drew a gun and shot the attacker, who died at the scene. No word on whether the clerk was injured.
This was an incredibly intense event. One man feared for his life. Another man lost his. This story, seen through the eyes of the clerk, would have been terrifying.
You can bet that he thanks his deity that he had a firearm on him. His ability to carry a gun determined who lived and who died in that altercation.
People should understand that, should feel it in their bones.
But instead, this is all we know. The news report is seven sentences long.
You’ve seen me say it many times before: The Good Guy with a Gun isn’t a myth, he’s just underdocumented.
