It wasn’t the first time Eric Ivan Searcy-Bryson had broken into a car — he had been arrested after being found sleeping inside a stolen car in March the prior year — but it was to be his last.

He had gone to the Riverview Hotel in Macon, GA at around 3 AM on April 9. We don’t know precisely what he was up to, but police report that he tried to break into a parked Mercedes.

You’ve got to feel bad for the owner of the Riverview. He says he’s pretty sure neither person was actually a paying guest at the hotel, but he gets all the notoriety.
