Good Guy with a Gun #199: Savannah, GA
A 16-year-old forced his way into a Savannah home with a gun. The homeowner with a gun faced a man-sized threat and reacted appropriately. | Original incident: May 18, 2024
These posts are based on our Good Guy with a Gun calendar. Today’s post is essentially the same as the calendar version.
A 16-year-old forcefully entered a home toting a gun at around 7:30 PM in Savannah, Georgia.
The police said that “shots were fired” — we don’t know who started it, whether both people fired shots, or how many shots were fired.
We know the homeowner faced a man-sized threat that invaded his house with a firearm, and did what makes sense. And we know the boy ran away wounded. The police found him in “a protective sweep of residences in the immediate area,” and he died despite efforts to save him.

I always hate it most when kids are involved in crimes. It's awful when anyone gets killed, but 16? And who helped him to turn into such a person? So awful. And I bet the homeowner, though completely justified, doesn't feel just wonderful about having to do what he did.
