Good Guy with a Gun #222: Arcadia, CA
If anyone needed a “30-caliber clip to disperse with 30 bullets within half a second,” it’s these CA homeowners who found four burglars in their house. | Original incident: June 10, 2024
These posts are based on our Good Guy with a Gun calendar. Today’s post is essentially the same as the calendar version.
The quote in the subhead come from former California State Senator Kevin de León, and yes, it’s real, and yes, it’s that bad. Video in the footnotes.1
Homeowners in Arcadia, California came home a little after midnight to find that there were four people inside their house.
They called the police and waited outside. Before the police arrived, the burglars left the house, where the homeowners confronted them.
One of the homeowners got into a fight with one of the burglars. The other homeowner fired a shot into the air (don’t do that, the bullet comes down somewhere), which stopped the altercation.
Three of the burglars escaped in a vehicle while the homeowners held the fourth one at gunpoint until the police arrived. The other three were caught later.
The KTLA 5 written page says the homeowner was treated for minor injuries that resulted from the fight; the video (see below) says the suspect was. Regardless, nobody was hurt by gunfire.
Sources
I’m surprised at how little I’ve found on this story. KTLA 5 is the only local news source, with just 30 seconds of TV coverage that’s essentially the same as what you can read at the link.
Give this USACarry story a click, though, if you’d like more information about warning shots. There’s a whole section called Commentary on Warning Shots that discusses why they’re generally a bad idea.
Maybe my Google-fu just isn’t working right now — let me know in the comments if you find other news sources.
Kevin de León’s disturbingly stupid quote is here. And he’s the kind of person making gun laws for California. (He was voted out and replaced by someone who’s I’m sure just as bad (though it would be hard to be as stupid) in 2024.)
