Good Guy with a Gun #271: Chatham County, GA
DGUs often lack detail. This one? Two counts of cruelty to children, but no reason for them. | Original incident: July 29, 2024
Two counts of cruelty to children turned up on Diego Holland’s charge sheet, right alongside battery and burglary — and neither outlet that covered this says what children had to do with a fight between two grown men.
Here’s what we do know: Around 10 on a Monday night, the 51-year-old let himself into a Chatham County house uninvited, started arguing with the man inside, and kept at it after the argument turned physical. The man inside shot him.
Chatham County Police say the two knew each other and that Holland was the aggressor — enough, apparently, to clear the shooter of any charges too.
Holland was charged with battery, first-degree burglary, and two counts of third-degree cruelty to children. No charges were expected against the man who shot him.
