Good Guy with a Gun #279: Hall County, GA
Gut check? Didn't pause for one before shooting, so he got a different one at the hospital. | Original incident: August 6, 2024
These posts are based on our Good Guy with a Gun calendar. Today’s post is essentially the same as the calendar version.
For most of a Tuesday, 31-year-old Jullius Devin Collins had been telling members of his own family he was coming to shoot them.
A little after 7:30 that evening, he showed up at the family’s East Hall County home with a gun and found two of them outside — a 27-year-old man and an adult woman. He fired, hit the man in the leg, and missed the woman.
The man had a handgun of his own. He fired back, hitting Collins once in the gut.
Collins ran.
A deputy found him a short while later, walking down a nearby highway with a wound he wasn’t going to talk his way out of.
Collins faced two felony counts — aggravated assault, and aggravated assault under Georgia’s Family Violence Act — and was held without bond.
We don’t know how Collins is related to the man or woman he victimized.
So there it is: One short report, no follow-up, no names for either victim, no quotes from anyone involved. The Good Guy with a Gun isn’t a myth: He’s just under-documented.
