Good Guy with a Gun #287: Pensacola, FL
The Good Guy with a Gun isn’t a myth. He’s just underdocumented. | Original incident: August 12, 2024
These posts are based on our Good Guy with a Gun calendar. Today’s post is essentially the same as the calendar version.
Wondering why you don’t see more Good Guy with a Gun stories, despite research showing Defensive Gun Uses (DGUs) occur hundreds or thousands of times daily (depending on which research you read)? There’s just not much data about them.
Take this story. Here’s all we get from multiple news reports:
Date (8/12/2024), time (around 7 PM)
Location (Navy Boulevard, in close proximity to Dollar General and Little Caesar’s)
Man found with gunshot wound when deputies arrived
EMS tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead
Police investigated it as a self-defense shooting
And this was a fatality. How often do news channels fail to report a smaller incident? How often do police not get involved?
