Even in California, you can sometimes get a little justice.
A routine drive in Orinda — about 20 miles northeast of San Francisco — turned hostile when a 72-year-old Tesla driver saw Scott Decker, 50, “moving slowly and moving off to the right side of the road,” according to prosecutors.
The Tesla driver passed him, but Decker then surged forward in his 4Runner, blocked the car, and leapt out. Decker punched the 72-year-old in the face three times through the open window.
The Tesla driver, a registered gun owner with a concealed carry permit, drew his handgun and fired once, hitting Decker in the neck. First responders tried to save him, but he died on the spot.
Dashcam footage backed the driver’s story, and eventually — four months later — the DA determined that no charges would be filed.
