A woman arrived at her first-floor West Philly rowhome, boyfriend in tow, at 2 AM. As she opened the door, three men1 accosted them.
They fought, and the woman fired her handgun.
One man was pronounced dead in a bedroom at 2:30 AM, shot in the head and torso. A second man ran out through the back and turned up later at a hospital. We’re not sure about the third man (if there was, in fact, a third man).
She stayed at the scene and cooperated.
“Wow. That’s shocking. It makes no sense,” said Tressy Wilson, a neighbor. “I’m scared to go to work. I’m scared to go home. Now you scared to be in your own house.”
Aaron Allen, another neighbor, said the woman and her family had only moved onto the block about a year earlier. He put it plainer: “She don’t bother nobody. People so mean. You don’t know what people might do. Carrying guns and she probably was trying to defend herself and I don’t blame her.”
