Cedric Marshall, 47, left his pants on the back porch of a home at about 5 AM; then he slipped through the unlocked back door.
The homeowners awoke to the half-naked stranger standing over them.
The furious husband told Marshall to leave, but Marshall said, “You’ll have to shoot me,” and lunged at him.
The two men fought at first, but the homeowner soon obliged: A single shot to the chest stopped Marshall cold.
“All right, man, don’t shoot me no more,” he said. Then he left a trail of blood in the house before collapsing in the backyard.
The couple and their children, five and ten years old, were unharmed.
“I don’t know that he really had a choice in the matter,” a neighbor named Samantha said. “I’m very glad that he was able to defend himself and his family.”
