In Southwest Baltimore, just before 8 PM, a 32-year-old man attempted to carjack a white Honda. As the carjacker moved in, the driver produced a firearm and fired at least six shots.
Video footage captured the alleged carjacker running from the scene before collapsing and dying a short time later.
A local resident named Nia, who had previously been a victim of carjacking, said, “Good for him for being prepared, because in Baltimore you never know what’s going to happen.”
She added a warning to other carjackers: “You don’t know who you might be running up on. That should be a lesson learned to all you carjackers out there. Whoever’s doing all this. Stop.”
Carjackings had ticked up 10% citywide that week, per BPD, but this driver’s stand halted one thief’s plan.
