These posts are based on our Good Guy with a Gun calendar. Today’s post is essentially the same as the calendar version.
It was a little before noon on a Thursday. A man was in a North Haven parking lot, and another man charged at him with a knife.
The first man “produced his legally possessed firearm and was able to deter the attack,” according to police. The man with the knife fled in his car. Nobody was hurt.
Detectives later found the car, empty, in West Haven. The knife-wielding man was in a business nearby: He turned out to be 45-year-old Obadiah Claud.
Police said interviews showed “this was not a random incident, and there is no known threat to the public.”
Claud was charged with second-degree threatening, illegal possession of a deadly weapon, and second-degree breach of peace, and held on $50,000 bond.
Two things worth noting:
Not for nothing, but this was in Connecticut, which Giffords ranks as #3 for “Gun Law Strength,” behind only California and New Jersey. It’s nice to see that not every civilian has been disarmed.
Displaying a firearm saves the day without firing a shot. How often does that happen and we don’t hear about it, because it’s not newsworthy?

Or I’d be grateful for a cuppa joe. It all keeps the motor running.
