Good Guy with a Gun #38: Harris County, TX
Original incident: December 6, 2023. A couple came home to a armed and drug-influenced man in their apartment.
This is the kind of content featured in the 2026 Good Guy with a Gun one-page-per-day desk calendar.
To the man and his girlfriend pulling up to their apartment in north Harris County, Texas, it seemed like a normal Wednesday evening. Then they opened the door.
A stranger was already inside, rummaging around. And he was armed.
We don’t know how things went inside the home until the boyfriend fired a single shot. That took the man down, and then he called the police.
Harris County deputies arrived quickly and rushed the wounded man to the hospital, but he didn’t make it.
He was later identified as Teraice Henderson. He may have been under the influence of drugs, and he had several warrants out in the county for felony weapons possession. (Yet he was carrying a weapon when he was shot. Funny how criminals ignore gun laws.)
By the time news organizations were giving reports, the police had already reported that no charges were expected to be filed in the case.
Sources
ABC 13 and Fox 26 both published stories as well as granting airtime to the story.
The Star-Telegram and CW39 KIAH published stories.
I didn’t see any write-ups about this from the usual 2A publishers.
Take a look at how spotty the preliminary information is that we get around DGUs: This is a tweet from the Harris County Sheriff, which gives just the barest of facts. I don’t blame the police, of course, but we should remain aware (and tell other people) about the dearth of facts surrounding most GGWAG incidents.
That thing that never happens, happens every day.
