Good Guy with a Gun #72: Philadelphia, PA
Original incident: January 11, 2024. It's amazing that so little can be known about an incident when nine shots were fired and the victim went to the hospital.

A 48-year-old man had just gotten out of his car at around 7 PM on a Thursday evening in Philly. Suddenly four armed, masked men approached him — and one pointed a gun at him.
But he had a concealed carry permit and a firearm. He drew his weapon and fired four shots.
The news report says that one of the assailants responded with four shots of his own (though in the video at the link, it sure sounds like there were four shots followed by five). The victim took a round in the hip.
The assailants fled the scene, and unfortunately we don’t know whether any of them were hit.
A neighbor named Jeffrey expressed his frustration with rising crime in the area: “It feels like us civilians can’t protect ourselves. The police are doing the best they can, but it’s just not enough.”
Amen to that. That’s not a reflection on the police: As we see over and over again with defensive gun uses (DGUs), cops just can’t be everywhere at once.

I found only one local news source for this story: WPVI ABC 6.
Sean Holt also covered this at USACarry.

Those are pretty bad odds -- I wonder if any of the others were armed. Good thing he was able to defend himself, but it's too bad he got hurt (better than killed, though!). I wonder if they ever caught the robbers.
