Good Guy with a Gun #86: Phoenix, AZ
Original incident: January 26, 2024. Will a gunshot wound stop a continued decline into a life of crime? We could hope, but with his history...

24-year-old Isaiah Roggenbuck tried to force his way into a home near 5th Avenue and Lynwood Street in Phoenix.
The homeowner shot Roggenbuck, who fled on foot. Police found him a couple blocks away with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and took him to the hospital. After treatment, Roggenbuck faced charges for criminal trespassing.
This wasn’t Roggenbuck’s first run-in with the law: There’s a 2018 news report about Roggenbuck stealing the Breakfast of Champions — vodka and chocolate cake — from an Albertsons, also in Phoenix, while out on felony release for drug and shoplifting charges. He allegedly threatened to stab the store manager with a screwdriver, so at that time he was arraigned for aggravated assault and shoplifting.
Maybe getting shot will convince him to change his ways. We can dream, right?
(I have to be honest, I think the video that accompanies that story is hilarious: Among other things, the sheer drama of the chocolate cake scene is beyond funny. Sound on for maximum effect.)

Arizona’s Family 3, 12 News, Fox 10, and Hoodline, all had the same basic story. Only AZFamily 13 gave it airtime.
ABC 15 has the article and video about Roggenbuck’s earlier shoplifting arrest.
We got some attention from specialized press, too: The seemingly omnipresent Brandon Curtis at Concealed Nation and Dave Urbanski at the Blaze both gave it coverage, as did the GunsAmerica.com blog.
