Bre’Yaun Vickers eased his way close to a woman by pretending he needed help with his cellphone. As they settled into a walk, Vickers pulled a gun and snatched her purse.
Vickers’s ruse might have worked, but the woman was a lawful gun owner. She drew her firearm and shot at him.
She missed, but Vickers dropped the purse and bolted.
Police found him later with his gun ditched near where he was apprehended. They then discovered a second ruse — his gun was a BB gun.
My favorite part of this story? The official report from the Dothan PD was titled, “Robber Gets More Than Property After Victim Pulls Her Own Firearm”. Nice to see the locals have a sense of humor.
