Good Guy with a Gun #93: Durham, NC
Original incident: February 1, 2024. Third time lucky, they say. Imagine applying this kind of stick-to-it-iveness to, I don't know, getting a job.

Brandon Collins, unfortunately, just wouldn’t give up.
The first time he trespassed at a private home in Durham, North Carolina, the resident confronted him and he went away.
The second time, at about 5:30 PM, the resident called the police. Apparently the resident knew Collins, because he told the police his name. Collins was gone by the time they arrived.
But the third time, just after 7:00 PM, he hopped a fence and started fighting with the resident — and was shot outside the home, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries.
After being treated, Collins was arrested and charged with first-degree trespassing.
But still, he persisted. Wouldn’t it be better to apply that tenacity to something useful?
Sources
Primary sources are the Durham Sheriff’s Department and the identical report published on the Durham County Board of Elections website. Yeah, I don’t get it, either, but it’s an official government publication, so there it is.
I appreciated WTVD 11’s original reporting, about 96 seconds of TV time, trying to piece together what happened. They gave a lot of detail about how close it was to the mall, the fact that they were standing in the St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church parking lot, and more. I’m not local, but if I were, I’d sure appreciate that information.
They also had a follow-up article with more detail coming from the Sheriff’s report.
WRAL reported on the story and included a 30-second news brief.
I didn’t see any 2A or other specialist press report on this story.
