Brian Semil, 37, had served time in 2015 for a carjacking in Fort Lauderdale. His mother says that he had had substance abuse problems at the time, but had gotten clean. We feel for her.
Unfortunately, Semil relapsed into criminal behavior no later than October 2024, when he tried to carjack a woman, her mother, and her children in Pompano Beach.
It was around 5 PM, and there were witnesses calling 911 right away.
“He’s over here trying to get in people’s cars,” one caller reported.
Another 911 caller said, “There’s another man here too, with his firearm pointed at him as well.”
Three men stepped up in all, but the armed man proved decisive: He fired at Semil, killing him and rescuing the woman and her family.
