Good Guy with a Gun #96: Rosedale, MD
Original incident: February 4, 2024. When you hear about youths or children being the victims of gun violence, remember that they're sometimes part of the problem.
Happy Rosa Parks day in California, Missouri, and New York.

19-year-old Alexis Valencia plus two juveniles, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were in Garden Village Park. It’s just off of I-95, and if you look at the photos on Google Maps, it looks like any other community park.
Another 16-year-old boy was also there — we don’t know what his relationship there was, if any, to the other three.
They shot him in the thigh.
Then Valencia told the 16-year-old girl to shoot him in the head.
She wouldn’t do that, but she beat the boy with the gun.
Then a man burst onto the scene — he was a resident nearby, and he had heard the gunshot, grabbed his gun, and come to find out what was going on. He told the girl to drop the gun. She threw it at him, and then all three aggressors jumped into a vehicle and left.
The resident provided the license number of the vehicle, and all three were apprehended and charged as adults.
Note that no shots were fired by the Good Guy with the Gun. Brandishing was sufficient to resolve this problem.
The victim survived, but teenage violence has been a persistent problem in the area.

Fox 45 WBFF covered the story. I don’t see any other coverage.

I think it is a real problem that so many assume that "children" are always victims -- we seem to be turning them into "adults" in their thinking and acting at younger and younger ages. By "adult" I'm not talking about maturity, obviously, but imitation of the violent adults around them. So terribly sad.
